MADISON, Wis. (AP) — A former executive with support from unions says she plans to run as a Democrat against Wisconsin's Republican governor, Scott Walker.

Kathleen Falk is the first Democrat to officially get in the race as efforts to recall Walker gather momentum.

Falk made her formal announcement Wednesday in a video posted on her website and an email to supporters.

State Sen. Tim Cullen of Janesville, who has been quietly seeking support and money, said Wednesday he is committed to running. He has yet to formally announce his candidacy.

Falk says the 1 million signatures submitted Tuesday to recall Walker are an "unprecedented and inspiring show of solidarity and determination."

Walker spokeswoman Ciara Matthews says Falk was "hand-picked by big-government, public employee union bosses" and Walker would stand up well against her.
