Washington state troopers pulled Woodinville, Wash., resident Anna Boyle over for speeding, but found evidence of methamphetamine, traces of heroin and the smell of marijuana in her car. After questioning Boyle and her fiance about the pot, Boyle -- who seemed nervous -- responded, "I took a few hits earlier."
More unexpectedly, after hearing a thumping sound, officers found that Boyle's daughter, 8, and two sons, ages 7 and 5, and a dog, were trapped in the trunk of Boyle's Nissan Sentra. "At no time did the driver or passenger tell either trooper there were kids in the car," said Washington State Patrol trooper Keith Leary.
Officers took the children to a McDonald's and then released them into the care of Child Protective Services. The couple has been arrested on drug charges, but charges relating to the children have not yet been filed.
