Speaking at a fundraising gala in New York City, Oklahoma Senator Tom Coburn dropped the traditional senatorial decorum and blasted Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid, calling him "an absolute asshole."

"There's no comity with Harry Reid," Coburn said, according to the New York Daily News. "I think he's an absolute asshole."

In response, Reid spokesman Adam Jentleson emailed the Huffington Post, saying, ""Nothing says 'comity' like childish playground name-calling, especially from a senator who has not sponsored a single piece of successful bipartisan legislation during his entire Senate career."

As the Huffington Post notes, this is not the first time Coburn has lashed out at Reid. The two have history. Last year, Coburn blamed Reid for the Senate's gridlock, calling the Majority Leader "incompetent and incapable of carrying on the leadership in the Senate." Coburn ultimately apologized for the remark while at the same time insisting his "frustration" over the Senate was justified.
