Along with a translator, Nadya Tolokonnikova and Masha Alyokhina of the Russian punk band Pussy Riot joined Stephen Colbert for a lengthy and worthwhile interview on Tuesday, during which the former political prisoners talked about Russia's anti-gay laws, Vladimir Putin and whether or not Colbert could become a member of the Pussy Riot movement.

Highlights of the interview would have to include Tolokonnikova and Alyokhina's description of Putin as "a shirtless guy on a horse" as well as Colbert's question: "You were released from jail — why? You're criminals, you're dangerous criminals who sing in churches. Why were you released?"

"They got fed up with us," was Pussy Riot's response.

Colbert then offered them the chance to "thank" Putin for releasing them from jail, which they gamely declined by opting to thank their supporters — and Colbert's audience — instead.
