HBO has announced the title of John Oliver's upcoming satirical news program, "Last Week Tonight with John Oliver." It will premiere on Sunday, April 27 at at 11:00 p.m. ET/PT.
The thirty-minute show hosted by the longtime "Daily Show" correspondent will present "a satirical look at the week in news, politics and current events," according to a press release.
Oliver left the "Daily Show" in December, after HBO programming president Michael Lombardo noticed Oliver's talent as an interim host for Jon Stewart during the summer of 2013. “We knew that his singular perspective and distinct voice belonged on HBO," Lombardo said in November.
