The event benefits the Poets House, though why Murray was there is anybody's guess

Actor and comedian Bill Murray is continuing to show up in the least expected places, as this weekend he marched alongside hundreds of poetry fans across the Brooklyn Bridge, the New York Daily News reports.

It was the 20th anniversary of the annual Poets House march, which takes place on the bridge as an homage to Walt Whitman's poem, "Crossing Brooklyn Ferry."

"It's beautiful to read [the poem] with all of it happening right in front of your eyes," Murray told the Daily News.

The walk -- and the charity dinner that follows -- benefits the Poets House, a nonprofit national poetry library in lower Manhattan.
