Bill O'Reilly: "Many Americans are simply dumb" thanks to "the machines" that run their lives

O'Reilly was in full-blush "get off my lawn" mode last night

Bill O'Reilly wasn't satisfied with taking pot-shots at Salon's accurate headlines on "The O'Reilly Factor" last night -- he had an entire country to debase, full of people he despises.

Surprisingly, it's not Mexico, but America that's the target of his wrath. He approvingly cites a poll -- explicitly saying he believes it to be accurate because it conforms to his Weltanschauung -- and then rattles off a number of other conclusions those same pollsters drew, including the fact that Vice President Joe Biden would defeat any of the current Republicans running for president.

Biden would beat Jeb Bush and Ben Carson by 8 percent, Carly Fiorina by 6 percent, and Donald Trump by a whopping 21 percent, and this is evidence to O'Reilly of a "cruel" truth -- "many Americans are simply dumb." There's no other explanation as to why they'd support "an acolyte" of President Barack Obama who "endorses" all of the same policies, he argued.

"They don't know what's going on," he said. "They don't pay attention, because they just don't care." He used this as a justification for the "Watter's World" segments, in which he looses Jesse Watters on unsuspecting Americans and cleverly edits their responses to make them look as ignorant as possible.

As for why "many Americans are simply dumb," O'Reilly blamed the rise of "the machines," which "have allowed the individual American to create his or her own world. You don’t have to live in the real world anymore. [It] used to be drugs and alcohol [that] obliterated reality. Now it’s your handheld device or your PC."

There's no small truth to that statement -- after all, you can watch Fox News on both of them.
