Don Lemon doubles down on dumb, still unsure if Spring Valley video captures excessive force

Don Lemon comes back for more with Sunny Hostin. It does not turn out well for him, again

After a brutal beatdown by CNN legal analyst Sunny Hostin on “The Situation Room” with Wolf Blitzer Monday, Don Lemon returned to the show yesterday to defend his claim that the cellphone video of South Carolina high school resource officer Ben Fields manhandling a female student didn’t necessarily constitute excessive force.

In the 24 hours between Lemon’s appearances, the New York Daily News learned Fields—nicknamed “The Incredible Hulk” by students—is a powerlifter and strength coach for the Spring Valley High School football team. Though acknowledging these revelations, Lemon didn’t backtrack, saying he still doesn’t want to “rush to judgement.”

Hostin once again joined the debate, arguing that the additional “context” has not changed her mind on the legal question of “whether or not this officer used excessive or unreasonable force in arresting this young girl.”

“I don’t know what other evidence one would need to make any sort of different conclusion,” Hostin said. “I think it’s very clear that this officer used force that was unnecessary and excessive.”
