"What is it with these ding-dongs?": Watch this hilarious "Simpsons" take on the crazy election

"Try to envision another America," Homer says. "One where Republicans, Democrats, and Donald Trump all get along"

Held up against a cartoonish 2016 race, The Simpsons' "The Debateful Eight" spoof on Sunday night wasn't too far removed from reality (especially considering that the nightmare sequence features actual soundbites from our next president).

Jolted awake by the overlapping insults of 2016 candidates (from both sides of the aisle), Marge Simpson starts hyperventilating.

"I can't take it anymore," Marge tells husband Homer. "Basic manners are gone from politics. What is it with these ding-dongs?"

"Just try to envision another America," Homer advises. "One where Republicans, Democrats, and Donald Trump all get along."

Back in her dreamscape, Marge sees the entire field performing a heartfelt rendition of James Taylor's "How Sweet It Is," which quickly devolves into fisticuffs.

Awoken by Homer eating a sandwich and telling her that dreaming doesn't fix reality, Marge shushes her husband, adding, "I want to see who wins."

"We all do, honey," Homer says. "We all do."
