"The South lost. Why are we still dealing with this bullsh*t?" Larry Wilmore staggered by Mississippi's Confederate Heritage Month

"Nightly Show" host Larry Wilmore last night discussed Mississippi Governor Phil Bryant's newly signed proclamation naming April "Confederate Heritage Month."

"This is surprising because I assumed that in Mississippi, every month is Confederate Heritage Month," Wilmore responded, after a long swig of off-brand whiskey.

According to a news report — during which, Wilmore noted, the African-American anchor "can't believe what's on that teleprompter" — Bryant felt "the state's history deserved reflection regardless of how unpleasant or complicated parts of it may be."

Wilmore took umbrage with Bryant's characterization of slavery as unpleasant, replying, "Slavery's not humidity."

"The South lost," he continued. "Why are we still dealing with this bullshit?"
