"Daily Show" host Trevor Noah last night tackled so-called "religious freedom" bills, making headlines most recently in Mississippi, and which restrict local governments from protecting the rights of the LGBTQ community.

"Religious freedom? This is just discrimination," Noah said. "It's like creating a law to kill all kittens, then calling it the Bird Protection Act."

Members of the trans community have it especially bad, Noah argued, as they have to face such discrimination "whilst holding their pee." A law introduced recently in North Carolina requires transgender people use the restroom correspondent with the gender on their birth certificate.

"This is the problem with hatred," Noah said. "It's never really well thought out because now you expect people to carry their birth certificates to every public restroom."
