Attack at Champs-Élysées‬‬: French police come under fire in Paris

[UPDATED] At least two officers were killed after a gunman opened fire on the Champs-Élysée in Paris

Update 7:27 p.m. ET: ISIS has claimed responsibility for the attack via the group's semi-official news agency, Amaq, according to SITE Intel Group.

Two policemen were shot and killed and another wounded during a shooting on The Champs-Élysées in Paris Thursday evening.

Local authorities confirmed that one gunman has been killed, but at least one other suspect is at large.

The famed boulevard was evacuated and sealed for investigation and riot police are on the ground, according to the CNN Paris Correspondent.

Details about the attack are evolving, but an anti-terrorist investigation has been launched, the BBC reported. CNN correspondent Melissa Bell tweeted, "authorities confirm that a vehicle pulled up at a police van... assailant began shooting at police on ."

A French television station hosting an event with the 11 candidates running for president briefly interrupted its broadcast to report on the shootings.The attack arrives just days before Sunday's presidential election.

France is now under a state of emergency.
