Donald Trump unceremoniously dumped some of his biggest and earliest supporters once he became president, perhaps none more famously and hilariously than Chris Christie. While their partnership got off to a shaky start with an awkward press conference, Christie became a consistent presence during the campaign as the scandal-plagued governor could be seen nearly every weekend defending the latest Trump gaffe on national TV. But the two men had something of a falling out and, according to a new book, Trump blew up at Christie over his decision to have President Barack Obama call Trump on election night on Christie’s phone.
According to Joshua Green’s upcoming book, “Devil’s Bargain: Steve Bannon, Donald Trump, and the Storming of the Presidency,” everyone was sort of leaving Trump alone that night, even as it became clear he was going to win. Christie however, took it upon himself to sidle up next to Trump and explain, “Hey, Donald. The President talked to me earlier. If you win, he’s going to call my phone, and I’ll pass it over to you.”
This supposedly angered Trump for two reasons; first of all, Christie invaded his personal space. Secondly, Trump — a germaphobe — didn’t want to be touching somebody else’s phone.
“Hey Chris, you know my fucking phone number,” Trump fired back. “Just give it to the President. I don’t want your fucking phone.”
What a cuck.
You will recall that Trump tried to use his supposed fear of germs as proof that the piss tape could not possibly exist.
This would not be Christie’s last mistake that night, though. It was previously reported by Yahoo that the alleged fast food fetcher further angered Trump by trying to muscle his way into the good pictures while Trump gave his victory speech. Both the new book and the Yahoo report paint these incidents as the reason Trump eventually demoted Christie, and pushed him out as head of the transition team.
It would be a far-fetched claim if the subject wasn’t Donald Trump, but it’s easy to believe the man is just that petty.
