Conservative Linda Chavez on Wednesday slammed President Donald Trump for mocking Christine Blasey Ford during a Tuesday night rally, and she said he’s actually hurt Brett Kavanaugh’s chances of being on the Supreme Court.

When asked by CNN’s Alisyn Camerota what she made of Trump’s decision to directly attack Ford’s testimony in front of supporters, Chavez flatly said that Trump’s behavior was “disgusting.”

“I think Kavanaugh’s chances of being confirmed are lower today than yesterday as a result of President Trump,” she said. “I think there’s really an audience of three that the president has to convince — that is, the three senators who are wavering, and they are going to decide whether or not the nomination is moving forward or not. I think the president’s tone last night was disgusting.”

Chavez also speculated that Trump’s attacks on Ford weren’t done to help Kavanaugh get confirmed, but rather to rally supporters ahead of the upcoming midterm elections.

“This is the tribal politics we have seen for the last year and a half,” she said. “This is president trump trying to invigorate his base and he is hoping he will rile people up so they will come out and vote in November.”
