Bieber's pet monkey was quarantined five days ago at a German airport after the singer failed to produce the relevant paperwork necessary to board a plane with the pet. Mally is still stuck in a Munich animal sanctuary while Bieber tours across Europe.
It turns out that Mally, who has replaced Bieber with a "toy cat," is doing just so-so:
From Der Spiegel:
"The monkey is cheerful and is eating well and has his replacement mommy with it all the time," said Karl-Heinz Joachim, who has been helping to feed the celebrity pet. "It always has to sit on the stuffed toy and hold on to it. It doesn't like milk, it gets babyfood and fruit. When I offer a piece of apple, it takes it straight away and looks pleased."
But the baby monkey is also "clearly traumatised." Joachim told Central European News that "[The monkey was] apparently taken away from its mother when it was between nine and 10 weeks old. This is much too early … Those who were looking after it should have known."
Although the two were reported to be "inseparable," neither the Biebs nor his team has been in touch with the animal sanctuary. He has four weeks to fill out the paperwork and faces fines up to $17,000, excluding the cost of quarantine.
