Make a difference for the holidays

A letter from the editor

Dear Salon reader:

You've no doubt heard the old phrase "bread and roses." For almost a century these words have represented the idea that every person has a basic need to nourish not only the body, but the heart and mind too.

With the holidays upon us, I wanted to bring to your attention a great way to spread some bread and roses and be part of the solution that helps bridge the digital divide.

Salon has partnered with the Community Technology Centers' Network, a national network of more than 1,000 community centers, to offer Salon Premium "Make a Difference" gift subscriptions. CTCNet provides the bread, bringing together agencies and programs to provide equitable access to computers to low-income people of all ages. Salon provides the roses, enabling the people at these community centers with access to the thought-provoking writing and vital news and political information of Salon Premium that are largely absent from the mainstream media.

Purchase a "Make a Difference" gift subscription and we'll donate it to CTCNet to provide access at one of its centers -- and we'll even match it with a second subscription. That's just a few pennies a day for you to provide access to two community centers for an entire year. It's a great way to support Salon, and help others too.

Just click here to make a difference today.

Happy holidays,

David Talbot
