Gun control is just the beginning

As a father of three, entertainer Nick Cannon has an important stake in the topic of gun reform. Recently on “Salon Talks,” he opened up about the gun control debate and why, he says, people aren't examining the root of the issue. "We want to scream about gun control, when guns have been readily available for years. But this love for materialism and this lack of love for ourselves is what truly is the problem," Cannon said. "The disrespect for human life—we've been desensitized."

Cannon has been a member of the entertainment industry for over 20 years wearing many hats— comedian, actor, rapper, entrepreneur, host, producer — and in this interview, he speaks freely about America's systematic and institutional problems, from sexism in Hollywood to the epidemic of gun violence.
