Finding humor during a dark year

Donald Trump’s presidency has made it a politically depressing and destructive time for many Americans, but can we find some moments to laugh at, so as not to get completely lost in negativity?

Comedian and Act.tv’s senior correspondent Julianna Forlano joined Salon’s Alyona Minkovski on “Salon Talks” to look at the year’s funniest political moments. “It would be funny if Donald Trump didn’t have his finger on the button,” Forlano quipped.

In no particular order, Minkovski and Forlano discussed Melania Trump’s body double conspiracy theory, as well as that time the president stared straight up the sun during an eclipse without wearing protective goggles.

Additionally, they laughed at Ivanka Trump and Jared Kushner’s petty neighbor in Washington who stepped out wearing a fur coat and sipping a cocktail to observe LGBT protesters holding a dance party in front of Ivanka and Jared’s home.

They also rewatched the unforgettable interview between CNN’s Jake Tapper and Roy Moore spokesperson Ted Crockett who sat staring and speechless after Tapper informed him that there is no requirement for elected officials to swear on a Bible.
