"Doing a fabulous job"

Asked what he thought about his Secretary of Defense violating Geneva Conventions and other international humanitarian laws by hiding an Iraqi prisoner from the Red Cross, President Bush said: "I'm never disappointed in my secretary of defense. He's doing a fabulous job and America's lucky to have him in the position he's in."

Is America lucky to have a defense secretary who tells Congress one thing under oath -- then does another? From the DCCC blog:

Rumsfeld, under oath before the Senate, 5/13/2004: "Any instructions that have been issued or anything that's been authorized by the department was checked by the lawyers and deemed to be consistent with the Geneva Conventions."
