"The View” co-host Meghan McCain admitted she didn’t understand the importance of the dispute between Attorney General William Barr and special counsel Robert Mueller that spilled into public view ahead of his congressional testimony.

Mueller wrote a pair of letters to Barr, who testified Wednesday before the Senate Judiciary Committee, objecting to his handling of the special counsel report, but McCain said she didn’t quite understand their disagreement.

“I have the attention span of a hamster on meth, I’m a classic millennial, like, I have the attention span of right here,” McCain said, snapping her fingers in a cloud around her face. “I was confused last night, I was confused in the meeting.”

She preferred to assess the situation by the impact it had on the Democratic presidential race, rather than weighing the merits based on news reporting and documents released by the Justice Department.

“I’m looking forward to three people today — Kamala (Harris), Amy (Klobuchar), Corey (Booker), the three people running for president — what are you going to deliver in front of me? What questions do they and their campaigns and teams have come up with that could maybe find if there has been obstruction of justice, if there is something strange.”

She quoted from portions of Mueller’s letter, which was released by the Department of Justice after portions were revealed in the media.

“The investigation ‘did not fully capture the context, nature and substance of the report’ — what the hell does that mean?” McCain said. “What the hell does that mean?”

Co-host Sunny Hostin, a former federal prosecutor, offered to explain, but McCain kept on talking.

“Honestly, are you guys as confused?” McCain said, ignoring Hostin’s assistance. “But what does that mean? He puts a surrogate out, let me just ask — you put a surrogate out, his whole job is to capture the substance, context and nature of that report.”

Hostin finally got a chance to set the record straight as McCain caught her breath.

“What Mueller is saying to Barr in this letter, and again I encourage everyone to read it, he’s saying the four-page summary you put out does not capture what our investigation found,” she said.

McCain interrupted and asked her to skip ahead to the exciting part.

“Who’s going to jail?” McCain said. “I want to know who’s going to jail.”

Hostin said the special counsel suggested the attorney general was misleading the public, and McCain chuckled to herself about jail.

“Somebody’s going to jail,” she said.

Host Whoopi Goldberg said Barr apparently lied in his previous testimony before Congress, on April 9, but McCain wasn’t interested.

“I just want to bookend this with, this is dense and nuanced,” McCain said, “and part of why I’m reticent to give an opinion is I do want to see the hearings, I do want to see the questions.”
