MSNBC’s Joe Scarborough and Mika Brzezinski agreed white Boston Red Sox players should have joined their black and Latino teammates and boycotted a visit to the White House.

The “Morning Joe” hosts disagreed with contributor Donny Deutsch, who said he understood why some of the younger players might jump at the chance to visit the White House, saying they should have supported teammates who refused to go in protest of President Donald Trump’s policies.

“Come on, this is the most racist president, certainly, in our lifetime,” said Scarborough, an outspoken Red Sox fan. “You can talk about Charlottesville, can you talk about what he said about Hispanics, what he said about Puerto Ricans. He’s called Hispanic breeders.”

Brzezinski, who usually rolls her eyes at discussions about sports, said she didn’t understand why the white players accepted the invitation.

“You’re talking about a 23-year-old white player who might have his first chance to go to the White House, and you’ve got to let him have that opportunity,” she said. “How about the Hispanic player, how about the African-American player who would love to go to the White House but just can’t because the president is racist, and he just can’t do it. That should be more important than your first trip to the White House.”
