President Donald Trump claims he is "the least racist person there is anywhere in the world" and numerous black residents in Baltimore support his racist tweets about Rep. Elijah Cummings, D-Md.

"I am the least racist person there is anywhere in the world," Trump told reporters assembled outside of the White House on Tuesday. "When con men — who I've known almost all my business life, because I had to deal with him unfortunately in New York. But I get along with him — Al Sharpton. Now he's a racist. He's a racist."

Trump also claimed black residents of Baltimore have contacted him to let him know they agreed with his racist statements about Cummings, although he did not provide any proof of his assertions.

"I’ve received more phone calls than I think on any other subject — of people from Baltimore and other cities corruptly run by Democrats thanking me for getting involved," The president said.

“Those people are living in hell in Baltimore. They’re largely African-American,” Trump added. “You have a large African-American population, and they really appreciate what I’m doing. And they’ve let me know it. They really appreciate it."

The president doubled down on the racist language he used in his tweets from the weekend, even as he tried to argue his comments were not racially charged.

"People have called from Baltimore thanking me so much. There's all that money that’s been spent over 20 years — has been stolen and wasted by people like Elijah Cummings," Trump told the assembled reporters.

"The African-American people have been calling the White House. They have never been so happy as what a president has done. They're so happy that I pointed out the corrupt politics of Baltimore,” the president continued. “It's filthy-dirty. It's so horrible, and they are happy as hell."

On Saturday, Trump tweeted that Cummings "has been a brutal bully, shouting and screaming at the great men & women of Border Patrol about conditions at the Southern Border, when actually his Baltimore district is FAR WORSE and more dangerous. His district is considered the Worst in the USA. As proven last week during a Congressional tour, the Border is clean, efficient & well run, just very crowded. Cumming District is a disgusting, rat and rodent infested mess. If he spent more time in Baltimore, maybe he could help clean up this very dangerous & filthy place."

The president later added, "Why is so much money sent to the Elijah Cummings district when it is considered the worst run and most dangerous anywhere in the United States. No human being would want to live there. Where is all this money going? How much is stolen? Investigate this corrupt mess immediately!"
