“I want to be known for comedy”: Ali Siddiq on self-producing his specials

Many comics define success by landing a sitcom or a big studio film role, but comedian Ali Siddiq is all about the basics. He shares why he wants to be known for stand-up. " I've always wanted to be judged on comedy content, not anything outside of the craft," he told Salon's D. Watkins. Siddiq also explains why self-producing his own specials and releasing on YouTube is a better path for longevity in the business. "Netflix, HBO, their viewership versus what I can produce on my own, I beat everybody," he said. "In 2022, I beat every last one of them."
