After being attacked in a tweet by President Donald Trump, Sen. Kirsten Gillibrand fired back by letting him know that she, as well as other women, will not be silenced.
In a tweet on Tuesday morning, which was described by many as a form of sexual harassment, Trump whined about Gillibrand and said that in the past she begged him for campaign donations and added that she “would do anything for them.”
Lightweight Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a total flunky for Chuck Schumer and someone who would come to my office “begging” for campaign contributions not so long ago (and would do anything for them), is now in the ring fighting against Trump. Very disloyal to Bill & Crooked-USED!

Gillibrand quickly responded, sending a strong message.
You cannot silence me or the millions of women who have gotten off the sidelines to speak out about the unfitness and shame you have brought to the Oval Office. https://t.co/UbQZqubXZv

Trump’s tweet marks just his latest attack against women, and while it might seem to be a random outburst, it’s certainly not a coincidence that Gillibrand targeted him the day prior. It’s perhaps fitting that the Merriam-Webster’s word of the year for 2017 is “feminism,” as the leader of the nation continues to prove his regressiveness on women’s rights issues.
On Monday, the Democratic senator from New York called for Trump to resign on Monday in light of the several women who have accused him of sexual assault, or otherwise misconduct.
Exclusive: @SenGillibrand says that President Trump “should resign” over sexual assault allegations, calling them “credible” and numerous.” https://t.co/quJhZ09vJi

“President Trump should resign,” Gillibrand said. “These allegations are credible; they are numerous. I’ve heard these women’s testimony, and many of them are heartbreaking.”
Trump has consistently denied these allegations as “fake news” and claimed he never knew any of his alleged victims, a story that simply doesn’t add up to even the most minimal of scrutiny.
Trump claims he hasn’t met any of his accusers.
But Sanders said that there were “eyewitnesses” who would refute the accusers.
Plus: One of the accusers was an Apprentice contestant, another was a contestant in one of his pageants https://t.co/iq6K5xLWni https://t.co/sOBXToCdSc

Gillibrand received an outpouring support from a wide range of media figures and lawmakers after the president’s insults on Tuesday, which many saw as an insinuation that she would go as far as to perform sexual favors in return for campaign contributions.
I stand with Sen. Gillibrand, a dedicated public servant and friend. America must reject Trump’s sexist slurs.

Dear Alabama,
Today Trump accused female Senator Kirsten Gillibrand of being willing to "do anything" for campaign contribution. This is an attack on women. If you want to see more attacks on women, Vote Roy Moore

Good morning @presssec what does the president mean when he says Senator Gillibrand "would do anything" for campaign contributions? https://t.co/McsN6FXpeU

Trump insinuating Senator Kirsten Gillibrand would perform sexual favors for campaign contributions is a form of verbal sexual assault. No one can condone this sort of talk from a public official, especially the president of the United States. He must resign for this. He must.
