Immortal Technique’s message for Trump on immigration

As America continues to weathers a moral and emotional storm around the inhumane treatment of families at the border, rapper and activist Immortal Technique is reminding America of its ugly history with immigrants. "This country has always had a Native American problem and now it has a problem with Native Americans that speak Spanish," he told SalonTV.

Immortal Technique, who was born in Peru and immigrated to Harlem, NY as a young child, has been rapping about poverty, economics, socialism, political leaders and conspiracies for decades. "Arm yourself with history," Immortal Technique advised. "The right likes to say oh the facts, the facts are all we care about. Fine, then factor in the historical facts because right now all we have is a rudimentary history being taught by a human teleprompter on Fox."

Watch Salon's full interview with Immortal Technique and documentary filmmaker Eugene Jarecki. Jarecki's new documentary, "The King," examines the rise and fall of Elvis through a cross-country road trip in Elvis' 1963 Rolls-Royce. Alec Baldwin, David Simon, Dan Rather, Chuck D, Immortal Technique, and many more debate Elvis' legacy for better or worse.
