How a role on “Veep” inspired actress Andrea Savage’s next project

With the much-anticipated seventh and final season of “Veep” returning to HBO this spring, actress Andrea Savage, who played President Laura Montez in season 6, is reflecting on her time on-screen with the show’s eleven-time Emmy Award winning star Julia Louis-Dreyfus.

“She's an incredible inspiration to me and I think to every female comic that I know,” Savage shared on “Salon Talks.” “I started working on ‘Veep’ right before I really started shooting season one of my show. I watched how incredibly involved she was creatively, and how she was on set. I really drew a lot of inspiration from her of how I wanted to be on my set.”

When asked if she would be reprising her role on the final season of “Veep,” Savage was mum, “I don't know, I can't say anything, I can't say yes, I can't say no.”

Savage is creator and star of truTV’s comedy “I’m Sorry,” now in its second season. Many of the hilarious storylines on the show have at least a kernel of Savage’s own experiences as a mom, and she plays Andrea, a fictionalized version of herself.
