Is President Donald Trump neglecting the future of America? Yes, says expert pediatrician Dr. Irwin Redlener, who co-founded the Children's Health Fund with acclaimed musician Paul Simon in 1987, and joined "Salon Talks" to talk about his new book "The Future of Us: What the Dreams of Children Mean for Twenty-First-Century America". "Times are particularly difficult for children dealing with one of the most out of control, chaotic administrations in my lifetime. There has been essentially no focus on the needs of kids," Redlener said.
Redlener, who has more than three decades of experience providing health care to medically underserved children in rural and urban communities, says America needs to refocus its values. "In order to be ready for whatever the future brings, that means we have to invest in children and make sure that every one of our children in the country, regardless of their background, race or economic status, needs to have a pathway to success-and it's not just about health care alone."
